Do you have a young apprentice in your kitchen whose enthusiasm inspires the rest of the brigade? Maybe you are a youthful entrepreneur who is creating the latest in a long line of innovative Scottish food or drink? Well, to coincide with the Scottish Government’s Year of Young People (#YOYP), specialist food and drink insurer, NFU Mutual, has joined forces with industry leadership organisation, Scotland Food & Drink, to create a brand-new award, designed to bring forward inspirational stories of young people driving success within the Scottish food and drink industry.
The NFU Mutual and Scotland Food & Drink Inspirational Young Person Award 2018, was launched at the Scotland Food & Drink conference in Glasgow today (Thursday), at which the focus theme was on looking ahead to ‘The World in 2030’. The award will open for applications on 1st May 2018, with the winners announced during Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight in September.
The award seeks to highlight the inspirational food and drink stories being created by those aged between 16 and 26 who own, work or study within businesses in the food and drink sector, highlighting not only the enormous contribution that young people make to Scotland’s food and drink businesses, but also the importance of the sector to the wider economy.
