We are a group of four or five (probably four and a half actually) folk who all live in and around Central Scotland, well one is in Ayrshire, but close enough. The majority of us have all worked, or still do work in the hospitality industry, covering all aspects of Food & Beverage service; bars, restaurants and hotels, both Front of House and in the Kitchen, so we very occasionally know what we are talking about! We have an award winning chef, a finalist of a National Hospitality competition, and one of us has our Bronze Swimming Certificate. Our youngest team member is seven, doesn't write much yet, but does a good job of making videos and looks far better in photos than the rest of us. Our oldest team member is thirty something, ah ok, he tells me late-thirties...
Despite the size of the team who contribute their opinions, especially when they have something to moan about, only two folk actually do any writing. They are:
Barney, our intrepid roving reporter, often found gallivanting around the world. When he does grace Scotland with his presence he usually always has to order our dinners.
Gru likes to think he is the brains of the operation and has a nasty habit of sneaking film quotes or song lyrics into his reviews. He is often dining with Gav and Alyn as the "Three Musketeers" or his "Sisters" the lovely Wilma & Betty. Occasionally Barney and Gru dine out together, this often leads to much heated debate and discussion if they are not both in total agreement (which never happens). Its a shame they never write joint reviews...
Suz and Lu often get invited out for dinner, Suz looks after the admin and takes great photos and notes and then gets Gru to write up the reviews, which seems a bit unfair to me...
The amazingly talented Amy Byrne, has moved on to pastures new, but you can still read her work over on her own blog "Don't Byrne It".
We have properly eclectic taste in movies, music and most importantly food and drink, where we love everything from the most traditional to the sharpest contemporaneity and everything in between. We are most passionate about local produce and so try to promote home-grown (literally in some cases) talent that demonstrates the best Scotland has to offer. We will always promote via Twitter, Instagram & Facebook anything we like, so get in touch if you would like a shout out!
We are more than happy to review any establishment, but if we are invited to do so it will be clearly noted on the review. We are also more than happy to let any employee, manager or owner have their right to reply. If you have a response to a review then email us at email@example.com and we will post it under the review.
We can provide a 'mystery shopper' service and this can be a single male or female, couple or young family, depending on the demographic which is most appropriate to your business. We prepare an extensive review document along with scoring system that can help identify strengths and weaknesses. This will be made available to the manager or owner who requests such a visit. Should you wish to arrange one (or more) of us popping in then drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can discuss your requirements.
EVENTS and NEWS
If you have any events you want us to publicise via the Website, Facebook or Twitter we will happily add it to our News features, or re-tweet links for you if we find they are compatible with our ethics, morals or sense of humour! Just Tweet or send us a message on Facebook if you want a RT or Like & Share. If you want to be on the website, send a carrier pigeon to email@example.com
Much of what we do we do out of love, but there are still bills to pay. We use some affiliate programs to populate the adverts you see on the front page and each regional page, which we try to keep to a minimum so no big banners or pop-ups here. Given the choice we would rather directly advertise local companies so if you want your business advertised on the website then send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and the nice folk there will discuss your needs.
JOIN the TEAM
If you think you have the blend of humour and perception it takes to become one of the team, or if you have a blog that you think is in a similar vein to our website and you want us to link to it, then hand-write us a letter, scan it into your computer (Don't really!) and then email it to email@example.com and we can have a chat.
